Walk-through on Songkran Festival in Phuket, Thailand
Songkran Festival - Thailand’s Traditional New Year Celebration aka world’s biggest water fight. The concept behind this is as the new year comes, they wash away all the bad omens/spirits by pouring water on you. This is traditionally done during their rituals in the morning then the festivities turns into a massive water fight around noon and goes on to the night. We are joined by EVERYONE including locals, foreigners, kids, babies, grandparents, police, firemen, local stores, restaurant workers, people on the back of the cars, and on scooters... literally EVERYONE!!!! You can also see in the video some people have stuff on their faces - these are watered down powder that the locals put on your face to wish you good luck.
We were in Phuket during this festival but this is observed throughout Thailand. Some cities are less crazy than this but it will always be a good time wherever you may be in Thailand.
